Hearing

A friend of mines son is going to a hearing called ''suppression''...could you please tell me what that is?...we and I have done a search on this and found nothing that we fully understand...is this a good hearing or bad?...or could it be both?...your fast response by e-mail will be appreciated so I can let her know...thank-you for your time
