Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

statue of limitations for theft in pennsylvania?

my ex husband stole my weddings rings out of my home when he came to pick up our children. i was not there and my grandmother was babysitting. she saw him go into my bedroom where the rings were, but i could not prove that he did it. i now have evidence that he did do it, because i saw them at the jewlery store where he sold them. the theft occurred in may-june of 2002. what are the statue of limitations on filing theft charges?

two years...depends on when you realized the items were stolen...now the DA might still pursue this matter due to you just discovering it was your husband..contact the County DA as soon as possible.

Please be advised you also have a civil matter on your hands here and can sue your husband for the monetary value of the items as well.

My office also offers flat rate pricing and free consultations, for additional information please visit my firm's website at www.AlleghenyAttorneys.com or by calling my office at 412.731.0865.
