theft involvement

i met a guy one night at a bar.2 days later he called and said he had stuff for me.i believed him.he met me then said he needed me to drive him to a couple places..i ended up taking him to do deals.the last place i took him he went in an apt.building and didnt come out. after some phone calls i left to a bar w/my friend and her friends.he then called to meet up where we were with the stuff.i said ok.he shows up impatient n jumpy.says his friend is waiting outside.I am embarassed by him so take him asided to talk.he asks for more money from me.I say thats enough-leave!he says hes goin to the bathroom. i go smoke a cig w/my friend outside. 2 min later the guy walks out of the bar and im relieved he left.1 min later my friend's friend comes out and says''hey that guy you know stole my girl's purse w/ $500''. I said ''WHAT!? oh my god'' i left to look for him by car then came back.cops talked to me and the girl whose purse was stolen.she says i have something to do w/it and other people saw us talkin.i say i just met him.im innocent.will they subpoena his cell record and see we were talking and in the same area before the crime.do i have to tell i was with him doing deals?i already IDed his pic. i'm affraid he'll bring me down too.can he?

They are likely alleging that you conspired with him to commit the crime.

There is no crime on your behalf if you did not know what was going on.

The fact that you were talking with him doesn't prove what you talked about or what you knew.
