Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

My husband of 17 years who was 39 years old and I am 42 was having an affair for the last year with a 26 year old girl I found out that they were more than friends in October of 2015 where he told me he would end it. In January of 2016 I found out they were still talking once again he told me he would end it. On July 11th 2016 this girl called me and asked if I would like to know what my husband has been doing since he will not tell me she said she would put me on speaker phone because he was there at her apartment at the time. I proceeded to talk to her on the phone while driving there to confront the two of them together once and for all after the third time he answered the door I stepped in told her I wasn't there to cause problems and was just trying to tell her that he is lying to her and telling her that we are not having any intimate relations and talked with her for a little bit until she finally told me that they were having sex. I went outside at that point crying to my husband and trying to control my 16 year old son who was very upset and angry and had lashed out and punched his dad. A few minutes later I went over and was talking to her telling her that she was dumb for believing him and that he has been acting the same towards me like we were working out our marriage we exchanged words and at some point she had the nerve to say to me that she hopes she doesn't get any sexually transmitted diseases from me this angered me and in a fit of anger and confusion I punched her my husband and my son broke it up and that was that she called the police the police told her it was a civil matter and she filed a PFA against me on July 20th which was denied but I have to go to court on Monday August 1st to defend myself I am not sure what it is I need to do or take or how this procedure even goes. I do not have a violent past and I am not sure that taking an attorney is something I need to do I just need advice as soon as possible thank you

Sounds like you have been charged with a crime. How serious is hard to say but it's at least a misdemeanor. At the lowest level that could be up to a year in the county prison plus finds and costs, In addition any conviction could be used against you if you end up in a custody battle.

I don't think you're looking at a do it yourself project.
