Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

teen runaway

My friend confided in me that she wants to runaway to go live with her boyfriend. She is 15 from PA and her boyfriend is 16 and he lives in WV. What exactly could happen to her? Can she be arrested? Can her parents press charges against her boyfriend?

Re: teen runaway

You asked about a potential teen runaway.

First off, tell somebody in authority. Her clergy, her parents, a school counselor, school principal, a local police officer.

A runaway under the age of 18 can be taken into custody and returned to his/her parents. Parents probably cannot press charges against the boyfriend.

This girl needs help and not a friend that will remain quiet. The stories about bad things happening to runaways and young girls aren't make believe. A 16 year old cannot earn enough to support one person and two teenagers cannot do so either.

She may feel she's in a bad place but she needs to see the future for what it really is and not what she imagines it could be.

Regards,

Roger
