Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

Name taken off loan

I signed for a vehicle loan for my fiancee, however, we separated, is there any way I can force him to get my name off the loan? He is not paying it on time and it is ruining what credit I do have. Being a single mom I can't afford a long legal battle, just looking for a quick help with this.

Re: Name taken off loan

Unfortunately it's very unlikely the loan co will remove you from the loan. There's no motivation for the loan co to do that-it has 2 people to go after. You're stuck. You unfortunately have learned a hard lesson, like others before you. Your choices are to pay the monthly amounts to keep your credit rating, or call the loan co & explain separation & provide info where loan co can repo car. Perhaps they'll go after your ex 1st, & only go after you if repoing car & trying to get balance from ex doesn't pay 100% of loan balance. Keep in mindr, if loan co repos car & sells at auction, it can still go after you & ex for balance of loan. In the future, do not sign for any loans for anything you can't afford to pay. Good luck!!
