I can appreciate your concern. Most smaller estates can easily be resolve from start to finish in the time period that you have described. If there is a law firm handling the administration of the estate, I would suggest that you contact them directly and ask for an update as to when they expect the estate to be resolved. Remember, everything being done in the estate is a matter of public record. As such, you can always go to the Register of Wills Office in the County where your grandfather resided at the time of his death and look at the estate file to see what has been done up to this point. If the law firm puts you off or does not provide you with a satisfactory update, you can always retain your ownn attorney to protect your interests in the estate.
