Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Pennsylvania

My mom passed and her house was in a life estate for her 4 kids.everything else was split between my brother and I because my sister's didn't treat her very well. My brother filled out the inheritance tax form and they want to see it. It has on all the other things she left my brother and I. Do they have a legal right to see the form? My brother paid the inheritance taxes they didn't pay anything.

Condolences on your loss.

All heirs and beneficiaries were entitled to notice that an estate was opened. From your question, I am assuming that there was a Will and it was probated, so your brother should have sent such a notice. If your sisters did not inherit anything under the Will, they can go to the Register of Wills office to look at the Will, but they do not have to see the Inheritance Tax Return.

THIS RESPONSE IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE, SINCE I DO NOT HAVE ALL OF THE INFORMATION THAT WOULD BE REQUIRED, AND I DO NOT HAVE A REPRESENTATION AGREEMENT WITH YOU.

* If the answers to your question confirm that you have a valid issue or worthwhile claim, your next step should almost always be to establish a dialog with a lawyer who can provide specific advice to you. Contact a lawyer in your county or township.

* Another reason for contacting a lawyer is that it is often impossible to give a good answer in the Internet Q&A format without having more information. The unique circumstances of your situation and things that you may not have thought to mention in your question may completely change the answer. If you want to be sure that you have a complete answer to your question and an understanding of what that answer means, establish a connection with a lawyer who practices in the area of your concern.
