If my grandaunt die and my grand mother( her sister ) and my father are dead; do I have the right to her state or would my aunt get everything?

Re: Inheritance question

First, if this is under Puerto Rico law, you would be entitled to something only if your grandaunt left it to you on a will. Otherwise, an intestate inheritance would open and you would get nothing because your aunt is higher than you in the collateral line, and there is no representation, in Puerto Rico law, for the collateral line in that degree.

However, that depends on the nature of your aunt's relationship to your grandaunt, because I am assuming that this aunt of yours is a sister of your father.

Re: Inheritance question

If this grand aunt of yours were to die and she had a will, you would only be entitled to inherit whatever she left you in this will(if anything).

However if this grand dame were to die intestate(without a will), your aunt would likely inherit the bulk of her estate under Va. Code Sec. 64.1-1.

Re: Inheritance question

Are you saying this is under Puerto Rican law? The question of what law applies is tricky, so you should perhaps ask that question first.

I am licensed only in Virginia and I cannot advise you on Puerto Rican law.

But I can suggest that your question needs to have more detail in it.

Your question is not clear (to me) about your aunt's relationship to your grandaunt.
