Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Rhode Island

What could I possibly be entitled to if I am self help evicted by my landlord? I was only given two days notice to leave and I am not behind on my rent.

2 days' notice is not sufficient, but self-help eviction typically refers to a landlord changing the locks or otherwise physically taking possession without authority of the court.

Bottom line, though, is that a tenant subject to a self-help eviction may be awarded up to three (3) months rent or 3 times the actual damages incurred (i.e. moving co, cost of alternate living arrangements, etc.), whichever is greater, and reasonable attorney's fees. If the rental agreement is terminated the landlord shall return all security ... and all prepaid rent.

You can read the statute yourself here: http://www.rilin.state.ri.us/Statutes/TITLE34/34-18/34-18-34.HTM
