Self-help eviction is illegal in RI (see http://www.rilin.state.ri.us/Statutes/TITLE34/34-18/34-18-44.HTM) and subjects the offending Landlord to penalties and damages (see http://www.rilin.state.ri.us/Statutes/TITLE34/34-18/34-18-34.HTM).
