Alcohol Violation

i got a dui in oct 97 and i got my license took for 6 months beginning 12-4-97-- 6-4-98. before i went and got my licenses back i got charged with minor in possesion of alcoho. they called it a alcohol violation. when i got my licenses backe i had to get sr22 for the dui. well it's been 3 years and i thought my sr22 would stop but the insurance company is saying i have to have it for 6 more months for the minor in possesion of alcohol violation. do i have to have the sr22 for 6 more months for that. i didn't think you had to have sr22 for that especially when i wasn't driving when i got caught with the alcohol.

Re: Alcohol Violation

It doesn't matter whether or not you were driving for the minor possession to affect your license. In South Carolina your license can be suspended for possession of certain drugs, such as marihuana. Also, in South Carolina, you can have your license suspended for not paying property tax on your vehicle. Simply because you were not driving does not really have any bearing on the issue. You probably will have to have the insurance for another six (6) months. Also, it appears that you have an alcohol problem. I would suggest you get some type of help (AA) or a treatment center.
