Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Divorce gone wrong

My wife left me for someone she had been sleeping with that she met on the internet and then filed for divorce claiming it was my behavior that caused it. My attorney took my $ and has let her walk all over me since. I have evidence that she was flirting, interested in sleeping with others, has nude photos she sent to others, and told the guy that she wanted to stab me in the chest and run away with the him. Yet SC's laws (or perhaps my attorney?), have been tilting everything her way. What can I do to turn this around and quickly. My attorney is a GREAT and very nice guy, but I either pay him to fight, or pay my wife the alimony she wants. I seem to be screwed either way. No good deed goes unpunished. The further complication is that I'm currently living out of the state of the divorce, and my employer is forcing me to move back to Washington state to keep my job. Cost of living goes up 24% and I'm barely making it by now with the high temporarly spousal support I'm paying. I need help and I'm desperate.

Re: Divorce gone wrong

First of all, either you are satisfied with your attorney or you're not. If you are, then you need to discuss these concerns with him. If you're not, then you need to try to find one that you are confident in.

As for the alimony, if you can prove her adultery, then she would be barred from receiving any alimony -- both temporarily and permanently.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.
