Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

Spouse in contempt of court

My ex is court ordered to keep insurance on my son. My son dislocated his elbow in 2005. He was staying with my mother at the time. My mom brought him to the hospital. My ex never showed up or provided the insurance info needed, so I had to sign the consent form in order for the doctor to see him. Now I\\\'m being charge medical expenses. I contacted my ex several times and gave her the bill for submission, but she neglected to submit the bill to her insurance company for payment. I don't think she's working at the same job now or she may not be working at all. What are my options?

Re: Spouse in contempt of court

You can bring a contempt action against her to have the Court require her to pay her portion (which might possibly include the amount the insurance would have paid if she canceled or dropped it).

If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.StevensFirm.com). I wish you the best of luck.
