Replacing broken automobile windshield on another person's vehicle

My son and another boy threw one rock each busted the back windshield out of someone's car at the baseball park. The car was not in the parking lot, but rather was parked near the woods away from all other cars. They are asking that we pay to have it replaced. Both sets of parents agreed, even though we have no way of knowing who's rock caused the acccident. Know they are wanting $600 cash for a new windshield. Isn't this 100% covered under SC insurance policies with full coverage without penalty to them. Can they force us to pay or can we tell them we are not going to? If so, can they insist that we use a certain glass company to replace the glass or can we decide since we are paying? We have a quote for $325 and my husband works in the auto repair business and get it done for even less. We feel we are being taken advantage of. If we tell them we are not going to pay, can they sue us or come after us in any financial way? Please help, we need an answer right away.

You would need to actually look at the insurance policy to determine if vandalism is covered. Yes, they could sue for the money. They could also call the police, have the kids arrested, and if they are found guilty, then the judge would order restitution. There is no hard-fast rule on what company to use. That is something that people just have to try and work out. Good luck.
