Legal Question in Personal Injury in South Carolina

Person injured in my Yard

A neighbor offered to cut a branch from a tree in my yard and used his chainsaw and ladder to attempt the cut. The branch snapped back before it was cut through and caused him to flinch and in the process cut his neck with the chainsaw. I have offered to pay his medical bills. Do I run the risk of a lawsuit?

Paying the medical bills is quite a nice gesture on your part and I complement you for that. It will not have any affect on a lawsuit as under the rules of evidence such a payment would not be admissible as evidence that you were at fault. That is all the information I can give you on a potential law suit, as I have no idea about what the other person in thinking. It sounds to me like his injuries were his own fault. If you have home owners insurance that injury might be covered, which would take care of the medical bills. Good luck.
