Legal Question in Traffic Law in South Carolina

Issues on Yeilding

I was driving onto the bridge and another person, who had a yeild sign, pulled out infront of me. They clearly should not have pulled out, and I honked to let them know they were at fault. They then slammed on the brakes and i hit them, because i did not have enough time to stop since they had pulled out infront of me. I was given a ticket because i had hit them from Behind. I really do not think this is my fault because they driver failed to yeild to oncoming traffic. I also feel that I was ticketed because i was a teen driver and she was an elderly woman. Was it really my fault?

Re: Issues on Yeilding

Generally speaking, when a person runs into the back of another car, they are considered at fault. But not always. I can't answer your question without seeing a diagram of the roads, sign, bridge, distances, etc. You might want to take the police report to a lawyer's office and get some advice. Good luck.
