This should not keep him out of the Navy, but I recommend doing 3 things at once:

1. He should consult with his recruiter to find out the best way to handle this from a Navy perspective;

2. He should consult an experienced criminal lawyer to explore the entry of a "no contest" or "Alford" plea to the charge as they are not admissions of guilt, and;

3. He should make sure that the bar is paid for its losses or the item replaced or whatever it is that will take care of them.
