Re: domestic assault

In Tennessee the crime of Domestic Assault, a class A Misdemeanor if the charge involved bodily injury or if a reasonable person would have been placed in fear of imminent bodily, is punishable by up to 11 months and 29 days in jail and a fine of up to $2,500.00.

However, if the Domestic Assault only involved an offensive or provocative contact, then it is a B Misdemeanor and is punishable by up to 6 months in jail and a fine of up to $500.00.

Anyone convicted of domestic assault will lose important rights under federal law.
