Purchasing a tax foreclosure home

If a house is on tax lien, and ordered to be auctioned by the court system, can I go to the County Clerks office and pay the taxes to get the deed before it is auctioned?

Re: Purchasing a tax foreclosure home

Only the owner of the property can pay the taxes before the tax auction. Even after the tax auction the owner and any lien holder has 12 months to redeem the property.

However, if you buy the property at the auction, it is subject to being redeemed for 1 year. You would receive the taxes you paid back plus 10% interest.

Go down to the clerk's office and pick up a their information booklet or contact me or another attorney for more information on tax purchases.
