Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Tennessee

rite of way fight with electric company

I am being told by my local electric co. they purchased a right of way that goes over my property in 1971for electric lines. The lines have been turned off for over 20 years but they are going to start using them and clear out all trees within 100ft on each side. this will completely take out all 20 trees in my backyard. When I bought this home in 2001 there was absolutely no mention of this right of way/easement attached to the deed or plat info; if there would have been i would either have offered much less or not bought it at all. What, if any, kind of options do I have at this point?

Re: rite of way fight with electric company

I would first look in the register of deeds office in your county to find out if anything was ever filed there. The answer depends on what you find there.
