Legal Question in Workers Comp in Tennessee

Confused as to my reaction to a complaint filed against me

A complaint was filed against me in the hamilton County, Tennessee Circuit Court asking me to answer and make defense to the complaint. I also received a Summons asking me to respond before 8/29/01. The summons was not served to me by an officer, the Human Resources representative at my place of employment gave me the summons in an envelope with several other papers. On the summons some of the information has been ''whited out'' and is illegible. Do i need to answer this summons since it was not served to me by an officer of the court and is the summons still valid since it has been altered. Also, the law firm representing my employer has offered a settlement, but still filed a complaint seeking to be reimbursed for ''wrongfully paid'' monies. the law firm also offered to strike the paragraph from the complaint, the paragraph that contains the wording seeking to be reimbursed the ''wrongfully paid'' monies. What should I do now?

There are too many variables to answer this question with specific advice other than to encourage you to meet with an attorney as soon as possible to review the details of this situation and the pleadings in this matter.
