Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas

Questionable charges

We contracted with an imaging center to have an MRI done for our daughter after a car accident. We were going to pay cash for it and were told the charge would be $2,250.00. We paid the entire charge before leaving the day the scan was done. Several weeks later we received an additional bill from another provider for $326.00. We believe that bill is for an interpretive report (reading the film). We were never told that such a report would be produced or billed and we didn't even need it done by the facility as our doctor had ordered the MRI and was going to read the film for its results.

Are we legally liable for this $326.00 for which we never knowingly contracted?

Re: Questionable charges

It depends.

Go back and read the documents which you signed at admission for the MRI. Also, did you leave with the film? Find out exactly what the charges are, and exactly what you agreed to when you signed the original documents.
