Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Statute of limitation for medical bills in Texas

My mother, who has emphysema, received a bill from a medical supply company last week for 3 1/2 years' worth of oxygen-related supplies.(over $1000) This is the FIRST bill she has ever received. In the past, the statements merely stated what her insurance paid, but there was no mention that she owed anything. She has always paid her debts and in a timely manner. Her credit report substantiates this fact. But now, suddenly she gets this huge bill dumped on her for charges going back to April, 2003. Is this legal? Is there a statute of limitations for medical billing in Texas? Does this mean she has to pay it ALL...NOW? Does she have any recourse? Thank you.

Re: Statute of limitation for medical bills in Texas

The statute of limitations is four years. She should ask why they've not billed her all along, and see about working a payout arrangement.
