Truck payment causing financial hardship

My son recently had a big decline in his earnings and cannot afford his monthly truck payment of almost $700.00. He has traded trucks several times over the last few years and owes about $48,000.00 on a truck that is worth about 1/2 of that. He and his wife are having trouble paying their regular bills because of this. What are his options?
