Legal Question in Criminal Law in Texas

During my arrest the law enforcement asked for my permission was it okay to search my camera. I told them no because that's my personal stuff and they still searched it anyway...looking all through my camera! I've read online that's a civil violation which is grounds to have the entire arrest invalidated and the charges dropped or reduced. I wanted to confirm because why would the cops ask me for my permission? They were literally trying to get my permission but I denied them access and it was recorded during interrogation. I'm in texas

They needed a warrant to search your camera. If they found evidence on your camera, then that evidence can be suppressed. However, that violation does not invalidate your entire arrest and will not force the state to dismiss charges. Charges can always be dismissed if the state wants to do so, or reduced via a plea bargain.

You need to have a lawyer who can answer these and your other questions.
