A terroristic threat (a threat to kill without being around the person) is a misdemeanor. If he pointed a deadly weapon at someone and threatened them, that is an aggravated assault.

Go to this site to get more information on him in prison: http://offender.tdcj.state.tx.us/OffenderSearch/index.jsp

Go to the District Clerk's page in the county in which he was prosecuted to see exactly what he did and what his sentence was (as well as other information).
