Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Texas

Raise

I have been with my company for 7yrs and I am now an executive. I am the controller of the company and I was told two yrs ago I would rec. a raise when that time came I was told there were no funds.I asked for a raise again and my boss cursed at me and told me it was a bad time and I was told I asked at the wrong time now I am being treated badly and I told the CEO that he scared me b--name removed--he yells and curses. He has been sued 5 times and settled ea. time. I am scared they are trying to get me to quit. I am an excellent employee and have copies of unproper emails and conversations I have rec. If I quite or they fire me for asking for a raise do I have a case against this CEO. He has been sued 3X for sexually harr. and 1X cooking books 1X for hostle envirn. I can--name removed--afford to lose my job but I am scared ea. day I go in that they will try to fire me. I have alot of proof to back up what I am saying. He is telling me that I should have waited to ask him. I told him that he intimidated me and that I was scared of his temper and he laughed and gave me this satisfied look. He has also had 2 DWI and he does not have a good record. What should I do. Do I have a case?

Re: Raise

Whether you have a case for discrimination, retaliation, hostile work environment, and/or sexual harassment depends on a number of factors, including the time frame in which the harassment occurred, the number of employees of the company, and the facts of the case. It certainly sounds like the facts as you have described them would support a cause of action against the company, and possibly against the owner himself. It is unclear to me whether you have been discriminated against, or what the “improper” emails contain.

Your best course of action is to seek an attorney qualified and experienced in employment law to assist you as soon as possible. The area of employment law is complex, and requires specific actions to be taken by the claimant with governmental agencies within very strict time frames.
