Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I was born and raised in Texas, though I had a Missouri driver's license for about 5 years. My permanent address has always been my parents' address -- which is now, again, the address on my TX driver's license. I'm currently going through a divorce. I understand there is a 6-month residency requirement to file for divorce in Texas. I was wondering if there is any way the permanent address could be proven to get around that waiting period, or if I have any other options. We have no children, and we have nothing to divide.

Some of the information provided creates questions, that should probably be addressed in a confidential setting with an attorney. You don't say how long you or your wife have resided in Texas. There is no waiver of the 6 month residency requirement. Whether or not you qualify to file for divorce, should be directed to your attorney. Since you have no children and no assets, it could be a straightforward proceeding that costs less in attorney fees than you may expect. A consultation would be worth it. Good luck.
