child custody

if an unwed couple, has a child. and one partnet get legal custody. then the couple get's married .does the coustody still stand's after a separationand divorce

Generally, the court order will state that upon marriage/remarriage, the provisions are void. Read your order, see if it has this standard provision. Consult an attorney in your county.

If there is a divorce, the child should be included and the areas relating to the child (child support, visitation, rights & duties) should be revised or re-stated.

I don't like a decree to ignore a minor child or refer to another legal document. I prefer to have everything covered in one legal document. Avoids missunderstands in the future.
