Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I have been divorced since 2013 and would like to start using my maiden name without going to court, is it possible to use both names legally? This would be Humphrey-Mills.

In Texas, you can legally use any name you want to.

The problem comes when you try to write a check, and your "name" doesn't match your official ID.
