Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I got divorced 2 years ago and in the decree it states that my ex and I have joint, equal custody of our 3 kids and that we are suppose to share expenses equally. However, they live with me 23-25 days a month, he only sees them on the weekend and he does not help with expenses. Can I file for back child support with the AG? I live in Tx

I doubt it. Take your decree to an attorney to review. It sounds strange. Most decrees include child support provision. If he was not ordered to pay child support, then you cannot go back and ask for it. But you can go back NOW and ask that he be ordered to pay it forward. But I would use a private attorney and not the TX A G.

Look on this website and www.avvo.com for an attorney to use.

You can always try the TX A G office but you might wait 6 months or more for help since they are so busy.

Good luck!
