Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My ex-wife sued me over a year of unpaid medical bills. They were never submitted to me correctly and while I paid them for several years I stopped. She neglected to comply with her part of the divorce in which my belongings were never returned to me. After not going to court, a default judgment was submitted against me and the wage garnishments are too high. Is there anything that I can do at this point? Over half of the amount owed is going to attorney fees. Can those be disputed or do I have a right to see them? The things that I was supposed to get in the divorce, if I sue for the monetary cost of those items, can that be used against the wage garnishment. Also feel like I should mention that the "child" in question is now 25.

It's impossible to answer your questions without looking at the legal documents.

It appears that you did not appear in court and a judge ruled against you (aka a default judgment). If it's been a long time, you have probably lost time to appeal it.

I would recommend that you take all of your paperwork to an attorney and pay for an hour of an attorney's time to look over everything and give you his/her opinion.

Look on this website and on www.avvo.com for an attorney in your county.

Good luck!
