Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I hired an attorney one year ago to handle a parenity case for me I gave him the name and location of the mother and since then he keeps promising that she is being served and still nothing. The mother was friendly and allowed me to see the child until Christmas time then stopped all visits. I have repeatly called since the attorney works out of his home it goes to voice mail which is always full and on top of that he had me edit the legal papers. I want to be able to see my child and pay child support but this lawyer ripped me off what can I do?

Fire your lawyer and hire somebody else.

Write him a letter (paper letter - no phone calls or text messages) and say:

"Dear Mr. Johnson,

"Please stop working on my case and withdraw from representing me. Please send me an accounting of the monies I have paid you so far. If I am due a refund, please send it to me. If I owe you money, please send me an invoice. Also, please let me know when I can pick up my file from you."
