Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My husband is filing for divorce and says he will pay me the maximum in spousal support. We live in Texas and I understand alimony isn't often paid in this state. Is it likely a judge would approve the spousal support, or might a judge say he does not have to pay it, (even if he is willing)?

If the spousal support is agreed upon by the parties, then the Judge will sign off on the agreed order.
