Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

what to do

Okay here is my issue. i currently don't have a place to live. staying with a friend for that last month. I was in the hospital for nearly a month and 1/2 and missed a court date. there is currently a warrent for missing court. I want to turn myself in ( the court is for non-payment of child support) I have not money. I need to take care of this issue just don't know how to run myself in and how long will i need to sit in jail for. How can i handle this issue?

Make sure that you have proof of your hospitalization. Ask the judge for a court-appointed lawyer. If this is through the OAG, contact them and provide them copies of your hospitalization. Ask them to recall the warrant and reset the hearing date. If they won't then, you will have to surrender yourself and wait until the judge brings your case on the docket. Proof of your inability to be present is very important; so is asking for a court-appointed lawyer.
