Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

Can i take physical custody of my child if theres a protective order against me but theres no custody order? The protective order only states that i cannot be around my ex or kids in a violent or threatening manner.

Violating a protective order will land you in VERY HOT WATER. You are much better off taking the actual order to a local attorney and letting him or her read it before giving you advice. From what you've said, I think you could be around your kids. But if you've misread even one word of it, that could change things drastically--in a way that is bad for you. Please take the order to a local attorney and let him or her read it.

Good luck!!
