Prefrential Court date

I have recently filed for a contested divorce and I have a preffrential court date hearing scheduled early next month.What does the judge take into consideration when allowing prefrential trail dates?How much earlier ( i know not to expect miracles here in Houston) does it usually give you for the trial.
