What happens to the ring when an engagement is broken?

If he breaks the engagement, she gets to keep the ring. If she breaks off the engagement, or it is mutual, she needs to return the ring. If she is entitled to the ring, and he wants it back, he has to buy it back from her. After the wedding it is a completed gift to her, and is her separate property.
