Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I just got served with contempt and enforcement of medical bills on children. I was placed on community supervision last year for non-payment of child support. I have been making child support payments but I cannot afford the medical bills. What is going to happen on our court hearing. She wants $3700.00. I do not have it.

First thing you do at the hearing is tell the judge you cannot afford an attorney and ask the court to appoint one for you. If you really can't afford an attorney, the court must appoint one.

Next, understand that contempt of reimbursement for out of pocket medical expenses is a two-step process. Don't accept a contempt finding on the first go-round.

Good luck!!
