texas guardianship of minors

What are requirements for guardianship of a minor child in texas? Specifically, age of sibling, need be gainfully employed, over 21?

I doubt that you want guardianship since it requires a lot of reporting to the court and tends to be expensive.

I assume that what you want is legal custody of a minor child -- to do things like take them to the doctor and register them in school. It's much easier than guardianship.

Requirements for custody is that you've had care, control and possession of the child over 6 months. If everyone agrees, then it's easy and quick and the 6 month possesion is no big deal.

The conservator (person responsible for the kid) may or may not be a relative, over 18, not convicted of a crime against a child. Having a job is nice but not required. Of course, the parents would be ordered to pay this person child support to support their minor child.
