I assume that you don't have an attorney representing you. Otherwise, your attorney would know what to do.

You need to have her served with the Petition for Divorce. Then if she does not answer the lawsuit within a certain number of days you can do a "default divorce".

You can go to the sheriff in your county or hire a private process server to do this. I recommend a private process server since they normally cost the same as a sheriff and they are more aggressive than the sheriff's department.

However, in order to be effective and to get divorced, the paperwork must be done properly or you are just wasting your money. Therefore, I suggest that you hire an attorney to do this for you.

When my car breaks, I hire someone that knows what they are doing. When my plumbing breaks, I hire someone that knows what they are doing to fix it. You need an expert now to get the job done right...so hire an attorney to help you.

Look on this website and on www.avvo.com to help you!

Good luck!
