Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Texas

An individual, in the state of Texas, scammed a group of nine hunters out of ~$30,000, has been arrested, charged with 3rd degree felony, and will be going on trial in June 2010. The only property he owns is a 2004 F250 truck and a travel trailer. His annual income is around $20,000 and has no available cash. He has stated that there is no way he can pay any of the monies back.
My question is: He owes me $5,600. Can a lean be placed on his pickup truck for what he owes me, and would that lean have to be cleared before he could sell the vehicle.
