Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

I was in a car accident, hit from behind, I didn't get a attorney, I settled with the insurance company. The question that I have is they paid for my vehicle repairs, I don't have medical insurance but I provided all my medical bills but they informed me that they paid the hospital the money owed not me can they do that?

Yes. Next time, hire an attorney to fight for you and to keep the insurance company from running over you.

It depends on whether or not the defendant insurance company paid an outstanding hospital lien. Nonetheless, to unravel it now after the hospital has been paid the full value of their claim is probably not worth it. The insurance company probably paid 25% to 50% of what a lawyer could have gotten you for the claim. Assuming your claim was only a soft tissue claim. Also, if the payment by the insurance company to the hospital was not sufficient to cover the hospital bill, you still owe the balance. You also do not have a release from the hospital.
