Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

I injured my arm and went to works compensation in Texas but they said my workplace, an elderly facility, was not covered by workers compensation. I am not getting paid for the days I was mandated not to go to work, and am losing the days I had accumulated from pto, do I have any legal basis? Is the only way I'm going to get paid is by suing them?
