Legal Question in Personal Injury in Texas

I'm related to someone accused of a crime and online news articles mention my name, even though I have absolutely nothing to do with the situation, except that I'm an athlete and related to the accused person. Is it legal for them to mention me and damage my reputation?

That you're related to someone who is accused of a crime should not harm your reputation. Further, if the media are reporting only the fact that you and he are related, then they are doing nothing wrong. They are allowed to truthfully report non-confidential facts, such as who is related to whom. Publishing false statements of fact that harm someone's reputation can be defamatory, but publishing true statements of fact cannot.
