Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

Breaking an Apartment Lease

Under my apartment lease contract I face penalties for breaking the lease prior to its expiration. However, the dishwasher included in my unit was recalled about 2 months ago because it was found to be a fire hazard. I expressed verbal concern, but nothing has been done to fix or replace the dishwasher. Has the lease been broken by the landlord in this case? Am I allowed to cancel the lease contract without penalty?

Re: Breaking an Apartment Lease

You could probably get out of the lease without paying a penalty. The landlord just needs a nice legal threat from an annoying lawyer. I would need to know the exact facts and I would have to read the lease. I'd be happy to help you in this matter. I would provide my services for a reduced rate of $100/hour. To discuss this matter further, please feel free to contact me. Thank you.
