Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

My roomates and I had a dispute about a deposit which led them to holding my personal belongings which included my car, all of my clothes, the title to my car, my keys, all of my furniture. They refused to give it back till I paid them. When I finally came up with the money to pay them they informed me that they had sold of my belongings and my car is missing and they cannot find my keys anymore I have already reported the car as stolen but I would like to take the next legal step in holding my roomates responsible for all of my personal belongings including my car. What should I do?

You need to consult with an attorney. You have a real mess on your hands.

The problem is that you could win in court but if your friends don't have any cash then all you will actually win is a judgment in the State of Texas. That is a piece of paper. It might ruin their credit. You can file the judgment in the real estate records of the county they live in & it's on file for many years. You might eventually get your money.
