Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in Texas

Harrassed at work

This was my first real job and I was so excited because I finally was getting my life in order. The manager hired me as an Assistant Manager I was so excited little did I know this was going to be a nightmare. He told me everyday how lucky I was to work for him and that I should be grateful to him. He said I needed a cell phone, but I told him I did not have one. The next day he brought me his daughters cell phone and said I can use it so whenever he needed to contact me. He is hispanic and so am I, and that is all he hires. It is a black community and he will not hire any other race, but young hispanic girls. The only men that work there are stockers. There is one cashier there that he makes cry and makes fun of her behind her back. He will not hire any black people. He also made a remark that I failed my drug test, but he still hired me so I should be grateful to him. He seemed like a nice man at first, but when I turned him down when he asked me to play pool it was a nightmare after that. I can go on and on. I could not take it anymore so I told my mom to pick me up from work and I did not go back again. What can I do so this will not happen to anyone again?

Re: Harrassed at work

There are two types of sexual harassment, quid pro quo and hostile work environment. I'm not sure what happened when he asked you to play pool, but it sounds like a quid pro quo situation (i.e. sexual favors in exchange for continued employment.) You should consider notifying the EEOC.
