Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Texas

My brother recently passed away unexpectedly. I am the beneficiary of his life insurance. Included in the packet are three authorization forms. 1)Authorization for release & disclosure of health-related information. 2)Authorization for release and disclosure of psychotherapy notes 3) Authorization for release and disclosure of non-health-related information.

My brother had severe back pain and took numerous meds for it. He also sometimes drank alcohol while taking meds. He passed in his sleep and we may not have a cause of death for 90 days. I don't like the sound of these forms. It seems like they are looking for a reason to deny the life insurance. Do I have to sign these authorizations?

They are looking for a way to deny the claim. Prior to submitting the forms you should read and reread the life insurance policy and the application to see if there are any exclusions which would deny coverage in the instances the company is looking at. If so, you have no choice but to submit, but I would suggest hiring a lawyer to assist you with this.
